butterfly
(written by bill passalacqua)

i was walking down the road like i always done before
now i don't care if i never see those roadsigns anymore
a butterfly crossed my path, said "come on take my hand"
i said "wait a minute butterfly, i don't understand"

butterfly, butterfly, stay away from me
you turn the laws of physics into an unknown quantity
butterfly, butterfly, ain't you heard of gravity
butterfly your beautiful but stay away from me

i've seen birds and big jet planes, drawing cruel lines
abiding by the rules, abiding others minds
you flit and flail, twist and turn, you fly right where you please
insisting on a lighter flight, you twist and turn and tease

butterfly...

so i begged that little butterfly to stop and look around
he lit upon a leaf upon a leaf upon the ground
he said "now i see the world as it was meant to be... for you
and just about then the wind blew up and on it's breath he flew

butterfly...
